BIO

Dominique Dobransky is an American-Belgian freelance dancer and artist currently based in New York City. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ailey School/Fordham University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a degree in Creative Writing.

Dominique is a company dancer with Carolyn Dorfman Dance. She danced as an apprentice with Didy Veldman’s London-based company, Humanoove, at their Pillow Lab residency at Jacob’s Pillow, and performed in Mumbai, India with Z Artists Group for an international production by director Nikos Lagousakos. She has also performed with companies LaneCoArts,  Abarukas, and Inclined Dance Project. Dominique has furthered her training at intensives including the Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program, BODYTRAFFIC, Alexandra Damiani, GALLIM, The DASH Ensemble, and VIM VIGOR.

She has had the pleasure of performing works by choreographers including Didy Veldman, Cayetano Soto, Ronald K. Brown, Yoshito Sakuraba, Lane Gifford, Alvin Ailey, Gregory Dolbashian, Adam Barruch, Kristen Klein, Maxine Steinman, Earl Mosley, and Amy Hall Garner. She has performed in venues in MA, PA, NY, CA and abroad, including the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out stage and Doris Duke Theater, Lincoln Center, Baryshnikov Arts Center, and Ailey Citigroup Theater.

Dominique is certified to teach the Horton Technique and is also a Pilates teacher. As a dance instructor, she works at studios and schools in NY, NJ, and New England, teaching students aged six to adult. She has worked as a Jacob’s Pillow Alumni Counsel ambassador and master class assistant as well as an Ailey Ambassador. Dominique has presented her choreography at The Ailey Citigroup Theater, and her piece, The Compass (You Are Here) received the Suzanna Cohen Legacy Foundation award. Her writing has appeared in The Dance Enthusiast(un)common sense, and CURA: A Literary Magazine of Art and Action. 

Dominique is a bilingual, dual citizen of the USA and Belgium, and is also passionate about writing, cultural exchange, travel, photography, interdisciplinary collaborations, teaching, and storytelling.
